We've just about finished our new ep, just some last minute parts to be recorded, then mixed and mastered. It's been recorded by Gareth Ince and Robbie Dunsmore at the Highland Alternative Music Studio in Dingwall. The ep will prob be £5 and be released mid-march. The tracks that will be on it are - Going Nowhere, One Fine Day, Open your eyes and Top of the world. Will have more news on this soon :)

We're jus back from playing the goMoscow Festival in Russia. We were supposed to be there from Thurs 11th - Sun 14th Oct to play 2 gigs, but our passports/visas got sent to Germany by delivery company DHL! so we spent 3 days in London and 24hrs in Moscow! . We played Tabula Rasa on the sat night. The crowd were magic and definately made up for the stress of getting there. We are hopefully goin to be going back next year for goMoscow 2008. Our gig at the Cavern Club in Liverpool has had to be re-scheduled, will hopefully be around February.

* The Side - Forever Changing
A GREAT band from the Highlands who all at once seem to be baggy, Britpop and Ben Folds Five wrapped up in pop melodies. There's sometimes even Acid House piano and Bon Jovi synths thrown in for good measure. They remind me of Irish band The Frank and Walters who could throw everything but the kitchen sink into a song with dazzling results. Forever Changing kicks off like a Britpop anthem with lyrics: "You are a victim of fashion/but I don't see what's the attraction/the songs you sing are overrated/there ain't no shame in being dated". It's a clever, uplifting tune which around the three minute mark breaks down into dance and even blues. Second tune Round Here is abit Toploader for me but the band led by singer and guitarist Hugh Winton swing up again with piano-led thump of The Circle which featured on the great Fat Hippy Records compilation. The band play The Box, Glasgow on November 1 and Capitol, Glasgow on December 1.

We're off to Moscow, Russia on Thurs 11th Oct as part of goMoscow. We're away for 4 days and will play 2 gigs. 6 bands take part in the festival which will feature scottish and russian bands.

In November we're off to The Cavern Club, Liverpool. We're planning putting together a package for this, which will include - return coach journey, accomadation and gig ticket. If interested drop us a mail - theside @ hotmail.co.uk

We've been busy writing new material, some of which we have been playing at the last couple of gigs. We hope to go into the studio towards the end of the year. Tracks we have provisionally chosen are - One Fine Day, Going Nowhere, Breathe and Start Over Again

We are featured on the goNorth CD in this weeks Music Week magazine. From the 60 bands playing goNorth, 13 were chosen to feature on this CD.

9/1/07 Happy new year!

We've recruited a new keys player, George Campbell. He's best known for his performances with other Highland band The Rites. It's great to have him onboard!

Next Gig: Fri 12 Jan- The Ironworks, Inverness (With The Now and Chris Gorman)

At the moment we're busy writing and rehearsing new material.

We plan to go back down to the Fat Hippy Records Studio's in Feb to record the next e.p, songs likely to feature are Brand New Hope, Round Here, Another Time-Another Place, The Circle and a new as yet untitled track.

15/7/05 The Side will play at the GO HI Festival on Sat 10th SEPT at Mad Hatters, Inverness 12.30 - 1.00am.

We are currently rehearsing new songs, 2 of them should be ready for our gig at the Market Bar next month. We have also started work on our second EP.

31/7/05 The Side reach the Final of the `PULSE` Talent Drawl, Tartan Heart Festival. We will be playing on Wed 3rd Aug @ Mad Hatters, Inverness. We`re on at 10pm for 15 mins.

25/7/05 Footage of The Side live at St Enochs Sq and Urban Outfitters will appear on the LEE SOUNDS UNSIGNED DVD and we have been asked to record our song `Sunrise` for the DVD. The outro of `Loud and Clear` is also hopefully going to be used.

29/6/05 The Side are chosen for the LEE SOUNDS UNSIGNED 05 SHOWCASE TOUR in association with NME.

The Side will play the Glasgow leg of the tour which will take place on Sat 23rd July. We`re on at 2.55pm for 40 mins @ St Enochs Sq and 5.00pm @ Urban Outfitters, Buchanan St.

3 bands from the Tour will be chosen to play @ The Carling Festival, Leeds. The other legs of the tour are London, Dublin, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester and Leeds.

20/6/05 We have reached the first heat of the `PULSE` Talent Drawl, Tartan Heart Festival. We will be playing on Sun 3rd July @ The Rock, Dingwall. We`re on at 9.40pm for 20 mins. One band from this heat will go to the Final @ Mad Hatters, Inverness. The winner of the Final will win a prize of opening up the Tartan Heart Festival, Belladrum.

10/6/05 We have now sold all 200 copies of our Debut E.P. We have made a few more copies which will be available at our gigs. We`re going to start on the second E.P in the next couple of months.
